Thanks to Dennis for this info:
The Fox TV Network has done what Chris Carter fans are
likely
find unbelievable: they've canceled his new "Harsh
Realm" series
after only its third episode. The series premiere had
surprisingly
low ratings with subsequent episodes dropping even
further --
an angry CC commented on how Fox "botched" the launch
of his
new series, saying, "I think in the end it looks
rather misguided
to have premiered the show without any promotional
base,
certainly when the reviews of it were good. I have a
feeling
we're a victim of a much bigger problem at Fox."
Chris also revealed that Fox admitted to him that they
had
underpromoted the new series, though they did plan on
heavily promoting the series for they next seven weeks
of the initial eight episodes filmed. Chris says, "The
viewer-awareness levels were pathetically low."
Chris does have a theory why the series was handled so
badly leading to this abrupt cancellation suggesting
that
Fox Entertainment prez Doug Herzog was not a fan of
the
new series. In addition, Chris explains, "When I first
met
Doug I realized he wasn't a fan of The X-Files, which
made
me paranoid that he didn't know what we did over
here."
Given the low ratings and that only eight episodes had
been filmed, odds are against the series being picked
up by another network. Still, one can't help but
wonder
why this happened given that Fox knew they had handled
the series wrong. What effect, if any, this action
will have
on Chris Carter's dealings with the network and The
X-Files
remains to be seen.
YEAH, I KNOW, IT SUCKS
Go back to "Help Save Harsh Realm."
Chris Carter gave us years of "The X-Files" and "Millennium." Now, let's give something back.
